Greetings! My name is Ignatious Quarry and I will be your guide through the world of Talan. Being that I am a Red Scholar, I have been thoroughly educated on all the ins and outs of the known world, which is why I believe his lordship, King Azlin, commissioned me to write this compilation. Oh, but don’t worry, I promise this will not be a laborious read. I believe brevity is the soul of wit. I intend for this manual to be easy to understand and quick to reference any rules you may need to review. First I will explain what TALAN is and what it is not.
TALAN is what’s known as a LARP, which stands for Live Action Role Play. It is where we all create characters within a medieval fantasy setting with elves, dwarves, fairies, knights and pirates and take part in high, epic adventures both written and improvised. Think of it as a Renaissance Festival rather than a system of performers and patrons. We are all part of the storyline and adventure! TALAN is not a cult, a proponent of any alternative lifestyles or real violence. We try to limit the use of vulgar language and any lewd conduct– we strive for a family-friendly environment. We do not use live steel weapons and take all precautions for everyone’s safety. We also take our playing environment very seriously. We have high respect for the parks that we use and do not tolerate litterbugs! Ultimately, we would like to build a strong community of the people who take part in both our events and any other similar organization’s. We will also endeavor to do community outreach work to give back to the public community that has provided us parks to hold our events in.
Now, without further ado let’s get down to how to take part in this thing and start making magic!
